Buddah in the back

Jer and I added a small Budda sculpture in the backyard by the pond. He is strategically placed next to the Japanese maple. I swear that my blood pressure goes down 10 points just looking at him.

Feels like fall

Makes me want to cook and bake. Made a pot of butternut squash soup yesterday. It was the perfect meal for a 65 degree day. Today I felt like baking. Well, making something sweet. Ended up dipping dried fruit in chocolate. Then I made Jer a couple cashew candy bars shaped like a butterfly and a flower. I found a new use for my cookie cutters. Enjoy the great weather!

Singing in the rain

Well, my dream of having an outdoor shower sort of came true today. We have been without water for most of the day. Jeremy was fixing our leaking front faucet, when the parts broke and we had to call in the plumber. We are still waiting, and I didn't get a shower after my run. A hard rain started up and I decided that there was no reason why I shouldn't shower in the back yard. Down to my running shorts and sports bra, Jer followed my out with a bar of soap and a towel. I stood in the rain and lathered up. Then I was able to use the water running off our pergola to rinse off.
I feel so much better, nice and clean.

Colie on high

Jer biked and I ran this morning, then some house work. We then settled in to finishing the BBC series of Jekyll. Great series if you have not seen it. While we were watching Jekyll, Cole decided to take a nap on high. "On high" is our code for on top of the kitchen cabinets. Here are a couple pics. He is sooooo cute.

Willow's 10th birthday

Today is Willow's 10th birthday. We celebrated with tuna, catnip and wine. The cats had a ball. Here is to another ten years.

My run this morning

Over the summer I have been running a few days a week before work. As fall approaches and the morning sun is rising a little later each mornings, I am running into more wild life on the trail. Wednesday morning I shared the trail with a family of deer. They made their way gracefully across the stream as I powered my way up the hillside.

Well, this morning did I not only see another family of deer, but I ran into a flock of turkeys. Or is that a jive of turkeys? :) I will have to google that later.

I spotted them ahead on the path. Thinking "what are those black things?". Then they moved. Hum? "Wow, those are large birds? Are they really turkeys?"

At the same time, they were looking at me saying "it is still coming towards us, we should move off the path." They moved to the left of the path, and as a ran past them, I realize that there were 10 to 20 of them. Wow how often do you see turkeys? Let alone close enough that u can touch them?

It made my day. I have come to love my morning runs. The peace, the quiet, the animals, and knowing that I don't have to run after work in the heat.

Jive turkey!
U have to say it to the tune of "Jive Talking" by the Bee Gee's.
