Tori my hero

Forgot to mention that Tori sang a tribute to Madonna, Live to Tell. That was when I was pretty sure that I was in the after world. I never imagined a day that one of my idols would sing a tribute to my other idol. Seriously!!!!!

Ann Arbor

Jeremy and I slept in this morning. Once we did get up we headed to Belle Isle. I can not express how f#*** cold it was.
I stayed in the car most of the time.

We drove to Ann Arbor. Checked out the art museum and had a wonderful dinner at the Cafe Felix.

Then it was off to the concert. Life changing! I haven't seen Tori since the 90's but I'm going to see her as much as I can on this tour.

Detroit- day two part three

We ate at Grey Ghost before our ghost tour.

It was one of the best meals ever. In fact last night and tonight were both amazing!

After our amazing meal, we went on a great ghost tour.

Pitstop!

The light in the sky is a light clock, not a ghost.

A wonderful day.

Detroit- day two,part two

So we only made it as far as Atwater brewery. Did I mention that it is super cold out!!!!

The beer was great and it was warm inside.

Later on our way back to the hotel we stood on the very center of the city.

Detroit- day 2

Our morning started at a great restaurant, parks and rec.

I highly suggest the morning cocktails.

Jeremy found an amazing building to photograph.

And we started our trek to Belle isle.

More to come.

Detroit- day 1

Yesterday morning Jeremy and I drove to Detroit. We arrived about 2pm. After parking the car and checking into the hotel, we headed of to the Contemporary Art museum.

This was my favorite piece. It is a tile floor completely made of sand, with a video of a women sweeping up a duplicate floor. I love temporary pieces that touch on the act of creating and destroying the piece.

We stopped in HopCat for crack fries and beer.

Today we are heading to Belle Island.

Making Strides

This year the walk was even more meaningful. A dear friend passed away last month after batting Breast cancer for seven years. I knew Cindy from high school and we continued our friendship thru college. I feel lucky that I was able to see her this past January. I had no idea that it would be the last time.
This lose has made me even more grateful for the cancer survivors in my life; my mother, my grandmother and one of my closest friends. I took for granted how blessed I am, no longer.

Cindy in high school.

Me, Kim and Cindy this past January.

Everyday, every minute make it count.

Patty, Woody and I at the walk today.

Patty is celebrating her two year anniversary.

I'm high risk and now have annual MRIs instead of the routine mammogram. Thankful that insurance is paying for them.

Make sure to schedule yours today if you haven't had one this year.

Twin Valley hike - Sunday

It rained most of the night. I mean, stormed. Not my fav when sleeping in a tent.
But here was our reward, a beautiful valley view.

About five miles in on our ten mile hike.

We did it! 25 miles in two days. We hike the entire Twin Valley trail.

Twin Valley hike - Saturday

Saturday morning started with the realization that our tea pot would not work. Plans changed, McDonald's it is.

At least we had a view while we are.

Here we are, the start of our two day hike.

We stopped at mile 10.3 for a snack.

We did it! 15 miles from Twin Creek to Germantown.

Time for dinner. Chicken Marebella on the fire.

It was amazing.

It started to rain as soon as we finished dinner. We relaxed in tent while listening to Wait Wait Don't Tell Me on NPR.

Saturday was a great experience. Can not wait until Sunday.
