The Chicago Tribune building

This morning while walking on Michigan Ave. I passed the Chicago Tribune building. I love looking at the pieces of building from around the world embedded in the outer wall. The first time I walked around this building and marveled at the pieces of far off distant places, I was 19 yrs old and on a college art trip.

I longed to see all of these countries that I have only read about. This morning as I walked around the building reading the plaques, I realized that I have seen many of these locations.

My 19 yr old self would be so excited and proud.

LA last week

Last week I was in LA working and soaking up the sun.
I’m always up at 4am the first morning, so I was out running by 5:30am.

Installation on Rodeo.

Have to make sure these toes touch the sand.

Santa Monica pier.

This little sand dollar was also walking on the beach.

Art Saturday - Feb 17

A few weeks ago Jeremy and I went to The DIA to see the origami exhibit.
The exhibit is amazing. I high recommend going.

Jeremy taking pictures of downtown.

We went to Lock 27 for dinner. Yeah poutine is totally worth the trip downtown.

Valentine’s Day

Jeremy and I celebrated 29 years together this past Valentine’s Day. Wow, time flies.

Jeremy sent me roses.

And we went to the Winds for dinner.

Just another Saturday

Yesterday was not just another Saturday.

First we took a walk about downtown.

Then we went to see Paul Poundstone at Victoria Theatre. When we woke up yesterday we had no idea that we would be doing any of that.

Dublin - last day

We had a 3:50 flight back to London.

We had breakfast at Cafe Nero.

Then we walked around town. Fist St Peter’s Park, then we walked down the river crossing back and forth over all the bridges.

Saw a few murals.

Took in as much as we could before we had to leave. I will be back!

Dublin - day 2 Dinner

We  went to the Boxty restaurant for dinner that night.
It was so delicious.

Dublin - day 2 Wicklow

Our final stop was Wicklow.

Here is the oldest arch in Europe.

We walked thru an old cemetery. The Celtic crosses were all beautiful.

We hiked to the lower area of the park and there was this amazing waterfall on the other side of the lake.

Here I am on the mountain above the Braveheart field, just before the wind tried to blow me off the mountain. Moved me about 20 ft.  I was so scared I started to laugh uncontrollably.

Dublin - day 2 sights along the way

As we drove around the guide showed a few things.

The Glendalough waterfall. The tallest In Ireland.

While we were looking at the waterfall a rainbow appeared.

The bridge from “PS I Love You”

The beach were they film the show “The Vikings”

The field where the battles in Braveheart were filmed.

So beautiful and green, even in January.

Dublin - day 2 visitor At Powercourt

While Jannelle and I stopped to draw, we had a visitor. A small European Robin decided to sit with us.

He even sat by Jannelle.

When we left he took our place on the bench. I think we took his spot in the garden.

Here is my quick sketch.

Dublin - day 2 Powercourt Garden

Jannelle and I booked a van tour that took us out into the country side. Powercourt Garden was our first stop.

Dublin day 1 - pub crawl

After a wonderful dinner, we took a musical pub crawl.
Our guides took us to three pubs, played some real Irish music and made sure our glasses were always full.

Here we are on our cold walk back to the hotel.
